Win Signed Copies of the Visual Miscellaneum!

The Visual Miscellaneum sold out in North America over Christmas. Woo! Thanks to all those who bought a copy.

Thanks to my publishers HarperCollins, I now hold what could be the last five copies of the first edition.

I’d like to sign them and give away to you, lovely readers. Before this site goes all Information Is Beautiful on your ass.

To enter the prize draw, just leave a comment below.

On Saturday 16th January I’ll pick five winners at random and contact them via email.

(BTW Apols for the lack of updates recently. I’ve been working on some cool new stuff to be released v. soon).

UPDATE: Thank you for all your entries and the lovely comments. I have been blushing continuously all week. Comments are closed now. But I’ll be picking winners on Monday 18th.

From the sample pages you’ve posted, the book looks amazing. I’ve been showing the site to colleagues as inspiration for how we might present things in a less soul-destroyingly boring way!

a picture is worth a thousand words – patterns are more valuable than words – I can recognise meaning in a picture – I have to read and digest words (often multiple times if complex)

    Hi,

Just wanted to leave a comment to say thanks for all the beautiful images you provide. They really do get across information in a way that is much more accessible than just data. I am a firm believer in providing information as simply as possible, which is something you excel at!

    Thank for everything

I’ve been following the upcoming release of this book for a while. I’m based in Lebanon and in the region I don’t think any of our bookstores will stock it.

I’m particularly interested in data visualization techniques and infographics particularly as it relates to transmitting large amounts of business info in a short period of time. We deal with people speaking varying languages in the Middle East and North Africa, sometimes a picture can take less time than it would take to consume a thousand words.

Locally, (ie in Lebanon) we have an extremely untapped market of creative talent. I’m holding a community event called GeekFest Beirut in February which is basically gathering people interested in various disciplines here to talk about what they are passionate about, design is always a key topic.

Such a book would be well received and hopefully provide some inspiration as to what new channels there might be for talented designers.

    Sincerely,

    alexandra
