Help! Some of these images take a lot of research. If you’ve got some spare time, maybe you can help crowdsource some info?
CEOs
22 SEP 09 I’m curious about American CEOs. Not just their pay packets, but their backgrounds. How many were college dropouts, for example? How many had single mothers?
I’ve taken a Forbes list of the top 500 CEOs in America and started to populate it. If you could do one CEO, that would be great. I think the spreadsheet is self-explanatory. But if you’ve got any questions, chuck me an email.
Oh and leave your name in the ‘credit field’ if you want a credit.
Thanks!
David
If England was 100 people… / If the US was 100 people…
14 SEP 09 Don’t know if you saw the “If Twitter was 100 people” image. I’m looking to do another one but looking at the populations of the UK and the US.
Can you help me dig up any interesting stats?
For instance:
: 3% of the UK population is Muslims (Times)
: 34% of the US adult population suffer from obesity (CDC)
Here’s a good tip. Targeting searches to specific sites works really well:
: percent population US site:times.co.uk
: “of the US population” site:guardian.co.uk
And so on, swapping in your favourite mass media digital news outlet.
Here’s a spreadsheet to place your finds.
IMPORTANT: Please remember to paste in the source URL where you found the information.
Oh and please leave your name in the credits field if you want a credit.
Much obliged. David
What Does Your Soul Look Like?
11 SEP 09 We’re creating an interactive art project of peoples’ souls. Fancy drawing yours? It’ll only take 5 minutes. See the post here for details. You could win a copy of my book!
Dr Who Timelines
01 SEP 09 Did you see the Time Travel image? We’re attempting to make one that visualizes all of Dr Who’s journies. Yes. We are.
So, if you have a little time to help populate a spreadsheet with all of the Timelords temporal quests, get in touch and I’ll share the Google Doc with you. Thanks! David.
UK MPs
14 JUL 09 In the wake of the MP Expenses Scandal, I’m compiling a large dataset on UK MPS. I’m interested in the ethical values and the upbringing. And whether there are any patterns hidden there.
So here’s a list on Google Docs of all those resigning or repaying due to expenses exposure.
Can you select some MPs and look up the following about them and fill in the appropriate cells on the spreadsheet?:
: their religious persuasion (Christian, Muslim, Atheism etc)
: any religious detail (i.e. C&E, Catholic etc) – DON’T WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT THIS ONE IF IT’S NOT APPARENT
: whether they went to public or private school
: source: URL where you got the info
IMPORTANT: If you’ve looked and you can’t find any info, please put a dash ‘-’ in the cell to show you’ve looked. Thanks!
Any help is much appreciated. Even if it’s just one MP.

Afghanistan Troop Casualties
31 JUL 2009: There’s probably a really simple way of making the images in this post dynamic (i.e. with Flash). If you could help with something like that. Or just give me some pointers, please email Infobeautiful AT Gmail or Twitter @infobeautiful. Thanks! D
I’ll be updating this page pretty regularly, reckon. So subscribe to the Feed or Email list, or follow @infobeautiful on twitter to stay in touch.
