Editor for InformationIsBeautiful.net

I’m looking for a smart, quick, web-savvy journalist / editorial person to become the new editor of InformationIsBeautiful.net.
You’ll be joining a smart friendly team of designers and researchers to develop ideas, seek out new data and new visualisations, to boldly visualise what no one has visualised before.

In charge of the daily running of the site, you’ll be generating new ideas for posts, visualisations and subjects to explore. So you’ll have:

• a great editorial eye
• a relaxed but characterful writing style
• big Vulcan brain – good for working out complex problems and scanning data
• a fascination and desire to explore the world of infographics and visualised journalism
• a hunger for accurate data
• a muscly, mega-multi-tasking neo cortex capable of researching and developing many ideas simultaneously
• a love for Google Docs
• dazzling organisation skills – for self and others
• creative zeal and an almost alarming level of initiative

Web-savvyness is key. You’ll already be active online – tweeting, FBing, RSS. That paired with a good intuition and sense of what works and doesn’t online.

You’ll be working closely with David. The work will be intense, involving and intellectually stimulating. We’ll be criss-crossing all domains: pop, science, philosophy, tech, politics, current affairs, environment etc. So you’ll need to be super-curious and have demonstrable interest in a wide-range of subjects.

Previous journalistic or editorial experience is essential.

Some design nous, research skills and experience with HTML / WordPress would be ideal but not essential. We can train you up!

This is a significant role on an increasingly popular website. A great opportunity for an existing journalist or editorial mind to step into this exciting, fast-moving intersection where design and story-telling meeting.

• Full time (4-5 days a week)
• Based in London – mostly in-house but with some flexitime and work-from-home opportunities.
• Day-rate and responsibilities would suit a middle-weight or very talented junior.
• Opportunities for commercial side-projects

Deadline: 16th May / We’ll contact people: week of 23rd May / Job starts: 1st June (ish).

email: jobsarebeautiful@gmail.com with your CV and a short splurge plus one suggestion on how you would improve the website.
